Welcome to Unmuted, where the next generation speaks for itself. We are a local, modern, and decentralized news platform for everyone, written by the genuine young voices of Santa Barbara County. Our writers are unique storytellers because they are curious, intelligent, and honest local youth with a perspective worth hearing. 

Santa Barbara remains a beautiful place full of vibrant life, with its beaches, mountain trails, numerous nonprofits, stores, restaurants, distinct culture, and tight-knit neighborhoods. However, there is a whole layer of this city, filled with rich stories, that waits to be told by the authentic lens of its very own youth. 

Unmuted’s mission is to provide such youth with a platform to share their voices. We have youth writers, youth editors, youth photographers, youth media, and a youth founder, because we believe, wholeheartedly, that young people’s voices have so much to offer and deserve to be heard by the world around them.
